Physician-Owned. Patient-Focused.

About Center for Specialty Surgery in Portland, OR

Center for Specialty Surgery is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and certified by Medicare, built specifically for outpatient surgical care in Portland, Oregon. We opened our doors on November 18, 2003, and have operated in partnership with Providence Health System Services since 2009. With five operating rooms and two dedicated procedure rooms, we perform orthopedic, spine, pain management, plastic, and dental surgery every day, without the wait times or overhead of a full hospital operating room.

Center for Specialty Surgery was founded, and is still owned, by the physicians of Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists(opens in a new tab). Because the surgeons who use the facility also own it, they help set its standards, from equipment to bedside care. And because the Center for Specialty Surgery is independent, qualified surgeons beyond Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists can apply for privileges to care for their patients here in specialties supported by our facility.

That ownership shows up in the details patients notice. Our infection and complication rates are tracked every quarter and reported publicly. We were among the first ambulatory centers in the region to offer robotic-assisted knee replacement using the ROSA and VELYS systems, and our physician anesthesiologists are trained in nerve block techniques that reduce how much narcotic pain medication patients need after surgery. We've also been recognized among Newsweek's Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers(opens in a new tab) in Oregon in 2025, 2026, and 2027.

If your surgeon has scheduled you for a procedure at the Center for Specialty Surgery, you don't need to do anything else to book it. Your care team at Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists(opens in a new tab) has already taken care of that. If you have questions before your visit, call us at (503) 906-4300.
