A Note for Physicians & Surgeons

Partner With Us on Your Next Case

This page is for physicians and surgeons, whether or not you're affiliated with Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists, who are considering bringing a case to the Center for Specialty Surgery. Below is what our facility offers, how scheduling works, and how to get started.

Center for Specialty Surgery is an independent, AAAHC-accredited, Medicare-certified surgery center in Portland, Oregon, built specifically for outpatient surgical care since 2003, in partnership with Providence Health System Services since 2009. We're owned and operated by the physicians who use it, not a distant corporate operator, which means decisions about equipment, scheduling, and quality standards are made by surgeons, not a management company.

Facility at a Glance

  • 5 operating rooms and 2 dedicated procedure rooms for interventional pain management

  • AAAHC-accredited, Medicare-certified, independent ambulatory surgery center

  • Open since 2003, physician-owned, with no outside capital partner

  • Infection and complication rates tracked every quarter and reported publicly

  • Robotic-assisted technology (ROSA and VELYS systems) for knee replacement

  • Physician anesthesiologists, all board certified, trained in nerve block techniques across specialties

Specialties We Support

The Center for Specialty Surgery supports orthopedic surgery (joint replacement, spine, sports medicine, hand, wrist and elbow, and foot and ankle), interventional pain management, plastic surgery, dental and oral surgery, and the anesthesia services that support all of the above. Our interventional pain team alone runs about 400 procedures a month through two dedicated rooms.

Because the Center for Specialty Surgery is independent, your affiliation, or lack of one, with Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists has no bearing on whether you can bring your cases here. Surgeons throughout the Portland area already do.

Scheduling & Block Time

Outside physicians and surgeons are welcome to coordinate block time or schedule an individual case directly with our scheduling team. Contact us to discuss availability for your specialty and the information we'll need ahead of your first case here.

Quality & Safety You Can Verify

We don't just tell you our infection rates are low. We publish them every quarter. Review our current Safety Record, and see our current recognition among Newsweek's Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers(opens in a new tab) in Oregon.
